This Week in Washington: King Speaks on Immigration Bill, Votes for USTR, and Leads on Student Loans

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In an ongoing effort to keep Mainers informed of his work on Capitol Hill, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-ME) sat down to recap the events of this past week in the U.S. Senate 

In his weekly recap, Senator King addressed:

  • The confirmation of the United States Trade Representative on Wednesday. Last week, Senator King objected to proceeding to the nomination until the nominee, Mr. Froman, pledged to visit a New Balance facility in Maine and to work closely with Senator King and the company to address their concerns on trade issues.
  • His leadership, with a bipartisan group of Senators, in working to reach an agreement that will prevent student loan rates from doubling on July 1st.
