WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a continuing effort to keep Mainers informed of his work in the nation’s capital, U.S. Senator Angus King took a few minutes to discuss the events of this past week in Washington.

In his weekly recap, Senator King addressed:

• The bi-partisan passage of The Employment Non-Discrimination Act, a bill that prevents workplace discrimination on the basis of one’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

• An amendment he authored with Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), adopted by the Senate Intelligence Committee, that provides an additional layer of oversight when the government is considering the use of targeted lethal force against a known U.S. person located outside the U.S. who is involved in international terrorism.

• His recent floor speech in which he urged his colleagues to set aside political ideologies so that Congress can get back in the business of performing its most basic functions, which include passing a budget.
