PORTLAND, ME – As part of his ongoing effort to keep the people of Maine informed of his work in Washington, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) recapped this week’s events in the nation’s capital:

• The threat posed by ISIS in Iraq and Syria, which continues to command significant attention in Washington.

• His disappointment in the Senate’s failure to move forward with a constitutional amendment to allow Congress to regulate and limit the raising and spending of money for federal political campaigns.

• His meetings with various people from Maine, including Speaker of the House Mark Eves, who was in Washington to discuss his aging initiative with the entire Maine delegation.

• The time he spent working in Maine over the August recess, which included visits to Thornton Academy in Saco, the World Acadian Congress in Madawaska, as well as many other stops around the state.
