BRUNSWICK, ME – As part of his ongoing effort to keep the people of Maine informed of his work in Washington, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) recapped this week’s events in the nation’s capital:

• ISIL and the Administration’s strategy in Iraq and Syria, along with the appropriations bill passed by Congress that authorizes aid to train and equip vetted elements of the moderate Syrian opposition.

• The Joint Session of Congress on Thursday, where members of both the House and Senate convened for an address by Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko.

• The Repay Act, a bill he introduced with Senator Richard Burr (R-N.C.) that would reform the student loan repayment system.

• His many office meetings with people from Maine, including his time with Peter Miesburger of the Maine Veterans of Foreign Wars.
