This Week in Washington: ACA Enrollment, Campaign Finance, Manufacturing, Intelligence Committee Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As part of his ongoing effort to keep the people of Maine informed of his work in Washington, U.S. Senator Angus King sat down to discuss this week’s events in the nation’s capital.

In his weekly address Senator King discussed:

  • A ceremony last Friday during which he presented Captain Lester Slate of Exeter with several service medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, for his lifesaving act of heroism during the Second World War.
  • The surge in sign-ups at the end of the Affordable Care Act’s open-enrollment period.
  • Legislation he introduced in the wake of the Supreme Court’s ruling to abolish limitations on an individual’s political donations. His bill would require all contributions of $1,000 or more be filed with the Federal Election Commission within 48 hours.
  • His efforts to revitalize American manufacturing.
  • His vote in favor of declassification of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report regarding the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program.
