WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Susan Collins, the Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, and U.S. Senator Angus King today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded the Town of Brunswick a grant in the amount of $1,521,270 for improvements at the Brunswick Executive Airport, and the City of Waterville a grant in the amount of $4,326,300 for improvements at the Waterville Robert Lafleur Airport.
“Airports across Maine serve as crucial connectors that link communities and help propel economic development,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “This funding will assist Brunswick and Waterville as they work to keep their local airports running safely and efficiently.”
Specifically, the DOT’s Federal Aviation Administration says the funding will be used to construct a snow removal equipment building at Brunswick Executive Airport and rehabilitate the runway pavement at Waterville Robert Lafleur Airport.
