SENATORS COLLINS, KING ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $87,000 FOR EDDINGTON FIRE DEPARTMENT

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that the Department of Homeland Security has awarded $87,769 in grant funding to the Eddington Fire Department through the "Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program," or FIRE Act.

“The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is an extremely critical source of funds for our fire and rescue personnel,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “This federal funding helps local first responders purchase new, used, or refurbished vehicles, and obtain equipment for firefighting, interoperable communications, chemical detection, and other purposes that are essential to helping keep our communities safe.”

The grant is being awarded through the Operations and Safety Program, which consists of training, equipment, wellness and fitness, and modifications to the departments’ facilities.
