Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced today that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded $830,000 to Rockland for repairs to the city’s commercial fish pier. 

“This welcome infrastructure investment is expected to help save 86 jobs in the Rockland region,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement.  “Repairing Rockland’s commercial fish pier will improve its safety and functionality, ensuring it can continue to be used by the fishing and lobstering community for years to come.”

The project includes repairing and resurfacing the pier, replacing fendering piles and camels, stabilizing the storage area, upgrading the electrical system, and dredging the adjacent area to an approximate depth of eight feet at low tide.  The total cost of the project is projected to be $1,660,000.
