WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $128,169 in federal grant funding to the State of Maine for improvements at the Augusta State Airport. The Augusta State Airport offers daily, roundtrip service to Boston’s Logan Airport.
Specifically, $68,877 is intended to be used to remove obstructions in the Runway 35 approach surfaces and to acquire aviation easements. An additional $59,292 is to be used to help update the existing master plan to help identify future airport needs.
“Maine’s airports, both big and small, support local businesses and boost our economy,” said Senator Collins and King in a joint statement. “This funding will help make important improvements, and maintain a safe operational environment, at the Augusta State Airport.”
