WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced today that the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) has awarded the Maine Department of Labor over $1 million in grant funding as part of USDOL’s Workforce Data Quality Initiative.
“The Workforce Data Quality Initiative helps government agencies conduct research and analysis by increasing access to high-quality data,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “This funding builds on the investments made in Maine to help government agencies better meet our state’s needs.”
Launched in 2010, the Workforce Data Quality Initiative is a joint undertaking with the U.S. Department of Education to help states develop education and workforce longitudinal databases. These databases aim to provide a comprehensive picture of workers' earnings throughout their careers in order to demonstrate the relationship between education and training programs and other employment services. The full amount awarded to the Maine Department of Labor is $1,112,888.
