WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced today that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded twelve Maine colleges and universities a total of $3,649,824 in grant funding through the Student Support Services Program.
“The education offered by our state’s colleges and universities is among the best in the country,” said Senators Collins, and King. “This funding will ensure that Maine’s colleges and universities have the resources they need to help students graduate.”
The Student Support Services Program is a federally-funded TRIO program that helps institutions of higher education provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, and guide students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary educations. TRIO programs support low-income and first-generation college students by steering them toward the academic support services that will help them succeed.
