WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, and Angus King announced today that the Maine Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Southern Maine (USM) has been awarded $100,000 from the Economic Development Administration (EDA). This investment funds the fifth year of a five-year Economic Development Program at USM that provides technical assistance and research and development tools to spur innovation and economic growth.
“The Maine Center for Business and Economic Research works to strengthen existing regional economic development initiatives and stimulate economic opportunity in the state of Maine,” Senators Collins and King said in a joint statement. “This funding will provide an important catalyst for innovation, and build upon ongoing economic development efforts at the University of Southern Maine to support Maine's private and public sector organizations.”
The EDA's University Center program is a competitive partnership with academic institutions that makes university resources and technical expertise available to regional economic development initiatives.
