Senators Collins, King Announce $20,000 Grant Awarded to the University of New England

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced today that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $20,000 in funding to the University of New England. This grant will support a clinical research conference organized by the American Physical Therapy Association related to neurological disorders.

“The challenges that neurological disorders pose to our nation’s overall health are staggering,” said Senators Collins and King. “Collaboration within the medical community is crucial to identifying gaps in both policy and care.”

The conference funded by this grant, “Piecing Together the Pain Puzzle: The Biopsychosocial Model,” seeks to identify gaps in policy, treatment, education, and research required to properly care for the millions of people experiencing chronic pain.
