Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins, the founder and co-chair of the Congressional Task Force on Alzheimer’s Disease, and Angus King announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $500,000 to Activas Diagnostics in Bangor. The funding from HHS will support Activas’ research and development of a home-based sleep technology for mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease monitoring.
“Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease that takes a tremendous toll on more than 28,000 people in Maine and more than five million across the country,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “We are pleased that this investment will help advance Activas’ research on a device that could help improve the lives of patients and their caregivers.”
Activas Diagnostics offers various patented wireless, non-invasive sensor systems and software for the detection of mild traumatic brain injury. The company provides personalized monitoring and analysis of individuals that currently possess or are at risk of these particular brain injuries.
