Senator King Honors Memorial Day

In social media video, says “It’s a day of memorial; of remembrance; of looking back; of thanking and thinking about those who have given everything for this country”

BRUNSWICK, ME – Today, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) commemorated Memorial Day by releasing a video on his social media channels honoring the sacrifice of America’s fallen servicemembers. In his video, which can be viewed HERE, Senator King notes that Memorial Day is a day of remembrance, and recognizes our nation’s veterans and families who have lost loved ones in defense of the United States.

“Memorial Day is just what it sounds like. It’s a day of memorial; of remembrance; of looking back; of thanking and thinking about those who have given everything for this country,” said Senator King. “The holiday goes back to the Civil War, and it’s become a day of remembrance across the country, and it means so much to our veterans and to the families of those who have fallen in defense of this country. There is no greater sacrifice that any family can make, and I just want to recognize the families, and I want to recognize the veterans, and I want to wish everyone a happy and meaningful Memorial Day 2021.”
