WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Angus S. King, Jr. today announced the opening of six state offices across the State of Maine.  Located in Biddeford, Presque Isle, Auburn, Portland, Augusta, and Bangor, the current offices have been inherited from Senator Olympia Snowe and will serve to directly meet the needs of constituents.

“The state offices are a crucial facet of our operations, enabling me to best serve the interests of the people of Maine,” said Senator King. “The talented people who staff them are my eyes, ears, and feet on the ground and the means by which I connect with and hear the voices and concerns of Mainers from every corner of the state so that we may work hand in hand to address the wide array of issues confronting them and our nation.”

Edie Smith, who serves as Senator King’s State Director and oversees the operation of the offices, noted:

“It is important to Senator King and all of us that the state offices open in concert with his assumption of the office.  We have worked feverishly since his election to create a seamless transition that will allow us offer outstanding services for our constituents. We look forward to collaborating with the staff in Senator Collins’ office, as well as Representatives Michaud and Pingree in pursuit of that effort.”

BACKGROUND: Edie Smith will be assisted by Director of Constituent Services, Teague Morris.  Additionally, each office will be open at a minimum Monday through Friday 9AM to 5PM.  Given that staff will be traveling extensively throughout the state, Smith encourages constituents to call the office first before visiting to ensure staff will be prepared to meet various constituents needs.
