Senate Confirms Nomination of Mike Michaud to be Department of Labor Assistant Secretary

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced tonight that the Senate has approved the nomination of former U.S. Representative Mike Michaud for the post of Assistant Secretary of Labor for Veterans' Employment and Training.

“I worked with Mike for many years when he represented Maine’s Second District and have seen his dedication to our veterans.  His commitment to ensuring that our veterans have the training and jobs they deserve when they return to civilian life will serve our veterans well,” said Senator Collins.

“Mike is a man of true character whose commitment to veterans extends decades,” Senator King said. “I know that in his new position he will continue to fight to ensure that America’s veterans have the resources and opportunities they need and deserve to succeed in life after the military. He has demonstrated his dedication to Maine veterans time and again, and I have no doubt that he will bring that same tenacity and passion to the Department of Labor as he works on behalf of veterans around the country.”

The Assistant Secretary of Labor for Veterans' Employment and Training oversees the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service, which provides career service and preparation to America's veterans, service members, and their spouses.
