Pingree, Golden, King Announce Applications are Open for U.S Attorney for Maine & U.S Marshal for Maine Nominations

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, Congressman Jared Golden, and Senator Angus King today announced they will convene an eleven-member advisory committee to review and provide recommendations to President Biden on candidates to serve as U.S. Attorney for Maine. 

“The U.S. Attorney is the top federal law enforcement officer role in Maine, and their work will be key for our state and nation’s success. This commission will screen and interview qualified Mainers who could serve the Biden Administration in this role. We’ll rely on their advice when we make our congressional recommendation to President Biden,” said Pingree, Golden, and King.

Interested candidates for U.S. Attorney for Maine should send a resume, cover letter, and 2 letters of reference to pingree.resume@mail.house.gov by 5 pm on Friday, February 12.

The advisory committee will solicit, interview, and review applications for the role of U.S. Attorney for Maine. Members of the committee include:

  • Taylor Asen—Partner at Gideon Asen 
  • Michael Carey—Partner at Brann and Isaacson
  • Gerard Conley Jr—Partner at Cloutier, Conley and Duffett 
  • Michael-Corey F. Hinton—Attorney, Drummond Woodsum
  • Margaret McGaughey—Retired, Appellate Chief of US Attorney’s Office, Maine  
  • Thimi Mina—Partner at McCloskey, Mini, Cunniff and Frawley
  • Jodi Nofsinger—Attorney at Berman and Simmons 
  • Shelly Anarado Okere—Assistant District Attorney, District V
  • John Paterson—Retired Partner at Bernstein Shur
  • Deirdre Smith—Associate Dean for Experiential Education, Managing Director of Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic and Professor of Law at the UMaine School of Law. 
  • Ben Sprague—Vice President at First National Bank 

Pingree, Golden, and King also announced applications are open for U.S. Marshal for Maine, reviewed separately. Interested candidates for U.S. Marshal for Maine should send a resume, cover letter, and 3 letters of reference to pingree.resume@mail.house.gov by 5 pm on Friday, February 12.
