WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME), a senior member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, and Angus S. King, Jr. (I-ME), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, announced today that they will be visiting Bath Iron Works (BIW) and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY) on Thursday, February 21, 2013. The visit will be Senators Collins and King’s first event together in Maine. Both Senators hold seats on important committees that oversee Maine’s military interests and they intend to express their strong intention to work together to protect the jobs of thousands of Mainers.
At BIW, Senators Collins and King will join President Jeffrey Geiger to tour the facility and speak to the workers. The Senators will hold media availability at BIW’s Administration Building at 700 Washington Street in Bath at 10:30AM.
At PNSY, Senators Collins and King will join Captain L. Bryan Fuller, Commander of PNSY, to tour the facility and speak to the workers. The Senators will hold media availability at PNSY’s Main Gate at 3:00PM.
