WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-ME), a member of the Senate Armed Service Committee and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, recently visited Nizip 2 Syrian refugee camp near Gaziantep, Turkey. The camp, one of 20 built and maintained by the Turkish government, is home to more than 5,000 Syrian refugees who have fled their country.
Senator King, along with Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, Senator Carl Levin, is visiting Turkey and Jordan this week to get a firsthand look at the impact of the situation in Syria on the region and on U.S. national security interests.
