WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Angus King video-conferenced with students from Presque Isle Middle School as part of his ongoing “Capitol Class with Angus” series. The students asked questions about the situation in Ukraine, income inequality, the Affordable Care Act, and the Senator’s daily schedule.
“I was delighted to connect with students at Presque Isle Middle School,” said Senator King. “I was very impressed by their level of engagement on important issues such as Maine’s economy, healthcare, education, and world affairs.”
Kevin Sipe, a teacher at Presque Isle Middle School who helped coordinate the event stated, “Our student felt privileged to be a part of the Senator's day and were excited to ask him questions about material we have been covering in class. The afternoon was a unique and valuable learning opportunity that demonstrated the importance Senator King places on education and allowed the student to see the important role that current events play in the real world.”

Over the course of his term in Congress, Senator King hopes to connect with as many Maine high schools as possible in order to share his experiences representing Maine in the U.S. Senate and to answer their questions about today’s most pressing issues.
