WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Senator Angus S. King, Jr. (I-Maine), today video conferenced via Cisco Jabber with students, faculty, and staff at Bucksport High School in Bucksport as part of his “Capitol Class with Angus” series. Over the next six years he hopes to connect with as many Maine high schools as possible in order to share with students his experiences as Maine’s new U.S. Senator and to answer their questions about major issues facing the country. Today’s 40 minute class covered a wide array of topics, including gun control, how to balance the diverse interests of Mainers, and his status as an Independent.
“It was wonderful to speak with the students, faculty, and staff at Bucksport High School. I was very impressed by their questions and overall level of engagement,” Senator King said following the call. “Civic discourse is at the heart of our democracy and seeing these bright young kids eager to listen and learn is truly invigorating – they are after all the next generation of leaders.”
Principal Dan Clifford added,“Having Senator King video conference with our students was a terrific educational experience. Our students were prepared with questions and Senator King was honest with his responses, this was a great learning experience and something our students will remember for a long time.”

He also employs video conferencing to meet with constituents and organizations based in Maine and records weekly videos that recap events in Washington.
