WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Senator Angus S. King, Jr. (I-Maine), today toured the Togus Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Augusta, Maine and congratulated Mr. Ryan S. Lilly on his official induction as the Center’s new Director. Lilly was appointed to the post in late August 2012.
Senator King praised Mr. Lilly, our nation's veterans, and the work of Togus' dedicated staff:
“It is all about the people. This facility is so important to Maine and so important to so many veterans and their families - the care and respect veterans get here cannot be overstated. The people who put their lives on the line deserve every ounce of respect, support, and help that we can provide for them and this facility is a manifestation of that.”
Togus VAMC is the oldest veterans’ facility in the country and strives to provide the highest quality patient care. The doctors and nurses emphasize primary, specialty and preventative care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. In addition to the main campus, it offers Maine veterans health services in eleven community-based outpatient clinics throughout the state.
