WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 11th, at 2:30 p.m., U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) will testify before the Subcommittee on Efficiency and Effectiveness of Federal Programs and the Federal Workforce about the morass of outdated and ineffective regulations that stifle economic growth and the need for Congress to press forward with regulatory reform efforts.
Senator King will testify at the invitation of Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The hearing will focus on current legislative efforts to improve regulatory and federal permitting processes.

Senator King has introduced several bills this Congress to streamline regulations and promote economic growth. Most notably, last July, he introduced the Regulatory Improvement Act of 2013 with Senator Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), which would create a Regulatory Improvement Commission to review outdated regulations with the goal of modifying, consolidating, or repealing regulations in order to reduce compliance costs, encourage growth and innovation, and improve competitiveness.
