King Statement on the Passing of Leon Gorman

BRUNSWICK, ME – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) released the following statement today on the passing of Leon Gorman, former President and CEO of L.L. Bean:

“Today, Maine lost a dear friend. Leon was a wonderful man and a gifted leader whose steady hand and pioneering vision helped transform L.L. Bean into the remarkable success it is today, and he did so while remaining true to the company’s values and firmly rooted in the traditions and spirit of his beloved state,” Senator King said. “Above all else, Leon was defined by – and will be remembered for – his unmatched generosity of heart, his unwavering commitment to the people of our state, and his deep and abiding love for all that is Maine. In every way, he was a true man of Maine. Mary and I will miss him very much, and we join with all Maine people in keeping his family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
