BRUNSWICK, ME – Following reports that Maine State police captured a man who allegedly shot five people, two of them fatally, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) released the following statement:

“I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence and the tragic loss of Kyle Hewitt and Kevin Tozier. Their family, friends, and loved ones, along with those who were injured in this reprehensible act, are in my thoughts and prayers. I extend my thanks to our emergency responders and law enforcement officials whose dedicated work led to the capture of the suspect.

“There is no doubt that this is a difficult and disturbing day for many in our state, but I know that we will lift one another up and heal together, as we always do.”
