BRUNSWICK, ME – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine), a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, released the following statement today on the shooting in Orlando, Florida:

“Today, our hearts are filled with grief. Like all Americans, I condemn this reprehensible attack. The victims, their families, those who were injured, and all those affected remain in my thoughts and prayers. In this dark moment, I am grateful to the law enforcement officers whose swift and courageous actions saved the lives of many.

“As a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, I have been briefed on the attack and I have asked to receive regular updates throughout the day as the investigation continues and as more information becomes available.

“As we remember and mourn those we lost today, let us stand united in the face of hatred and violence. Let us join together to show that, although our hearts may be broken, our love for one another remains strong.”
