BRUNSWICK, ME – Today, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) released the following statement on the passing of former Senator Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.):  

“Johnny Isakson was the picture of a decent, honorable, and honest public servant. He listened closely to his colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and worked to find common ground that served Georgians and people across the nation.

“Johnny was particularly passionate when it came to serving America’s military and veterans; he was always responsive and helpful when I came to him with issues facing Maine’s military community — an experience I know is shared by my colleagues from every state in the nation. I saw this commitment firsthand when we visited with servicemembers in Iraq several years ago, and he demonstrated it every day he was in the Senate.

“I will miss my friend, and I am holding his family and friends in my thoughts today.”
