AUGUSTA, ME – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) today toured Eldertide Farm & Maine Medicinals of Dresden, and presented owner Edie Johnston with a statement he submitted to the Congressional Record commending the company on being named a 2014 Small Business Administration (SBA) Tibbetts Award recipient.
“We have many great small businesses in Maine, and 2014 Tibbetts Award recipient, Mrs. Edie Johnston and Eldertide LLC, is certainly one of them,” said Senator King in his statement entered into the Congressional Record. “Eldertide and its sister company Maine Medicinals represent the innovative, entrepreneurial spirit that defines the State of Maine. I’m proud to join in recognizing their creativity and dedication to larger social and economic goals, and I expect they will continue to impress us – both in Maine and around the world – with their superb nutraceuticals.”
Eldertide harvests and produces elderberries for medicinal purposes, and along with its sister company, Maine Medicinals, creates various herbal supplements. Owner Edie Johnston founded Eldertide in 2007, and operates the business with her son, Geo Johnston.
The Tibbetts Awards are presented to small businesses and individuals deemed to represent the highest standards of the SBA’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.
