WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Angus King and Representatives Chellie Pingree and Jared Golden applauded the Senate Judiciary Committee’s action to advance Darcie McElwee’s nomination to serve as United States Attorney for the District of Maine. Senator King and Representatives Pingree and Golden provided counsel to President Joe Biden on the nomination, recommending McElwee after convening a committee of distinguished Maine legal professionals who met with a number of qualified candidates.

“Darcie McElwee is a lifelong Mainer, a dedicated public servant, and a talented legal mind. She has all the tools required to be an exemplary U.S. Attorney for the District of Maine,” said Senator King and Representatives Pingree and Golden. “As an Aroostook County native and a long-tenured leader in the U.S. Attorney’s Portland Office, Darcie has the deep roots and practical legal experience to excel in this role. We remain grateful that President Biden has nominated such a strong candidate for this position, and look forward to seeing her nomination confirmed by the Senate in the days ahead.”

Darcie McElwee is an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Maine, where she has served since 2002.
