King, Pingree, Golden Seek Candidates for State Positions With the U.S. Department of Agriculture

Members of Congress will make recommendations for two USDA state director positions and five committee spots

WASHINGTON — Senator Angus King (I-ME) and Representatives Chellie Pingree (ME-01) and Jared Golden (ME-02) announced today that they are now accepting applications from Mainers interested in working for a number of U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) positions in Maine. After the applications are reviewed, King, Pingree, and Golden will submit recommendations to the Biden Administration for the positions.

There are seven positions available.

State Director for the Farm Services Agency (Bangor)

The State Director for the Farm Services Agency (FSA) will work to assist Maine farmers seeking loans and other financial assistance, providing support for operating costs, emergencies, and other financial needs. The position will be primarily in Bangor, with some travel to other offices across the state.

State Director for Rural Development (Bangor)

The State Director for Rural Development will work to provide assistance to Mainers using USDA programs focused on energy, housing, telecommunications and more. The position is located in Bangor, but may involve travel to satellite offices in Lewiston, Presque Isle and Scarborough.

Member of the State Committee for the Farm Services Agency (5 positions)

The committee will meet regularly to assist FSA operations in the state by providing input regarding new and existing programs, reviewing appeals, and advising on how to best implement FSA programs to benefit Maine farmers. 

Interested applicants should send a cover letter, resume, and at least two relevant references to ME02.jobs@mail.house.gov. Applicants should make clear in their materials for which position(s) they would like to be considered. All materials must be submitted by February 16 at 5:00pm EST in order to be considered.
