WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Senator Angus S. King, Jr. (I-ME) yesterday joined with members of the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce at the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland for an open conversation about his first 100 days in office as well as a discussion about major issues pending before the Senate. Senator King, who was home in Maine for the state work week, delivered opening remarks to the group of key business leaders and then fielded questions on a wide array of topics ranging from the conflict in Syria to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

“It was important for me to speak with business leaders from the Midcoast area because it gave me the opportunity to talk to them about what’s happening in the Senate and to hear their thoughts on how Congress can better serve their needs,” Senator King said. “The businesses they own and represent – along with thousands more across the state – are the backbone of our economy, and their ideas are the driving force behind our economic recovery. I look forward to taking their thoughts back to Washington and continuing to work vigorously on their behalf.”

BACKGROUND: Formed on August 1, 2011 through the consolidation of the Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville Chamber and the Rockland-Thomaston Area Chamber, the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce (PBRCC)is the voice of business in Knox, Waldo, and northern Lincoln counties.
