WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following discussions with his colleagues on the Senate Intelligence Committee today, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine), a member of that committee, released the following statement:
“It is undeniable; news reports this week have been downright troubling. After discussions with my colleagues today on the Senate Intelligence Committee, I am encouraged by the Committee’s resolve to move forward. Because what really matters here is that we are going to get to work to ensure our vital oversight is not encumbered by the issue involving the CIA. As Senator Feinstein noted in her remarks on Tuesday, this has been referred to the Department of Justice and I look forward to seeing the results of that process. In the meantime, the Intelligence Committee has a critical job to do. I plan to focus my energy on providing vigilant legislative oversight to assure that our nation’s intelligence activities are in conformity with the Constitution and laws of the United States.”
