AUGUSTA, ME – Today, in response to the announcement that ReEnergy Holdings is resuming operations at its biomass-to-electricity facility in Ashland, Maine, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) released the following statement:
“This is terrific news for Ashland and all of Aroostook County,” said Senator King. “While this reopening means more jobs and economic growth, it is also a critical development for the entire forest products industry and will add sustainable, reliable generation to the Northern Maine grid.”
Formed in 2008, ReEnergy Holdings owns and/or operates numerous facilities that produce renewable energy from forest-derived woody biomass and other waste products. The Ashland Facility has not been in use since March 2011 due to market conditions.
