King Honors Korean War Veterans

AUGUSTA, ME – Today U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) presented flags to Korean War veterans Lou Poulin and Donald Brawn, both of Augusta, at a ceremony in his Augusta office. King had the flags flown over the United States Capitol in honor of Mr. Poulin’s 84th and Mr. Brawn’s 85th birthdays, and in recognition of their service to our country.

“One of the great privileges that comes with being a Senator is the chance to recognize the service and dedication of Americans like Lou and Donald,” said senator King after the ceremony. “Both of these men have the eternal gratitude of an entire nation, and I hope they cherish these flags just as we all cherish their service.”

Mr. Poulin turned 84 on May 3, and served in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed off the coast of Korea on various repair ships, and left the Navy as a 2nd Class Petty Officer. Mr. Brawn turned 85 on June 8, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was stationed in Pusan, Korea and left the Marine Corps as a Sergeant.
