King Congratulates Penobscot Job Corps for Environmental Sustainability Achievement

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Angus King today congratulated the Penobscot Job Corps Academy (PJCA) for its recent certification as a Center of Environmental Excellence.  PJCA was recognized for its leadership in implementing Job Corps’ Guiding Principles for High Performance Green Buildings initiative, and is one of only two centers in the country to receive this distinction. Based in Bangor, PJCA offers young adults vital education and career skills training at no cost to help them prepare for success in today’s job market and improve their overall quality of life.

“The Penobscot Job Corps Academy provides young people in Maine and across the country with opportunities to improve employment prospects through academic and technical training programs,” said Senator King. “I am thrilled to see this tremendously important resource recognized for its leadership and commitment to meeting the highest standard of environment sustainability and awareness. I want to congratulate everyone at PJCA for their work in this outstanding accomplishment.”

Job Corps, administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, seeks to help young Americans reach their full potential through a variety of education and vocational training opportunities. More information about the program can be found at: www.jobcorps.gov.
