King Concludes National Security Trip with Meetings in Germany

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine), a member of the Senate Intelligence and Armed Services Committees, was in Berlin, Germany on March 23rd as part on an ongoing Senate Intelligence Committee delegation trip focused on national security. The visit to Berlin, where Senator King met with German security officials, concludes his participation in the trip.

In Berlin, Senator King met with German security officials, including National Security Advisor Christoph Heusgen. He also met with U.S. Ambassador John B. Emerson and other U.S. embassy officials. During the meetings, they discussed the terrorist attacks in Belgium, intelligence sharing, and the central role that Germany is playing in attempting to resolve far-reaching security and economic challenges in Europe, including the expanding migration crisis, the response to Russia’s role in Ukraine, and the ongoing debate over surveillance and terrorism.

The visit to Berlin concludes Senator King’s participation in the national security-focused delegation trip that included meetings in France, Ukraine, and Poland.
