WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Angus S. King, Jr. (I-ME), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, today applauded a decision by the White House to release the series of emails that finalized the talking points used in the wake of the terrorist attack on the American special mission facility in Benghazi, Libya last September.

Two days ago on MSNBC, Senator King called on the White House to release the emails, stating, “I understand about executive privilege. I’m a former Governor. On the other hand, this is going to nag the Administration. I think they just ought to just release this information and let the Congress look them over and let the public decide.”

Following the release of the emails, Senator King said:

“On Monday I suggested that the White House release the chain of emails that finalized the Benghzi talking points. Today I’m pleased to learn they have done so. I look forward to putting this information before the entire Congress and the American people so that we can move forward with what’s important: a substantive discussion on how to improve the security of our diplomatic facilities around the world so that this never happens again.”
