King Applauds $1.4 Million in Federal Funding to Upgrade Bangor Community Connector Public Transit System

BRUNSWICK, ME – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) today applauded an announcement that the Bangor Community Connector Public Transit System will receive $1,441,600 in grant funding from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The funding is through the FTA’s Buses and Bus Facilities Grants Program.

“Safe and reliable public transportation is integral to helping move Maine communities forward,” said Senator King. “The Community Connector System helps people in the Bangor area get to and from work, school, doctor’s appointments, and all manner of the other daily events that fill our lives, and this $1.4 million investment will go a long way in ensuring that it can continue to serve the area well for years to come.”

The Community Connector Public Transit System serves Bangor and the surrounding area, including Brewer, Hampden, Old Town, Orono, and Veazie. The system also provides service to Eastern Maine Community College, Husson University, the New England School of Communications, and the University of Maine.
