King Announces Departure of Deputy Communications Director Scott Ogden

Jack Faherty to serve as Acting Press Secretary

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) announced today that longtime spokesman Scott Ogden will step down from his post tomorrow to pursue a new opportunity in Maine. Ogden has served as Press Secretary and later as Deputy Communications Director to Senator King since January 3, 2013.

            “Scott has been a valued member of my team, a trusted advisor, and an outstanding spokesman for more than four years. He is one of the most capable and thoughtful people that I have had the pleasure to work with, and I am grateful for all that he has done to keep the people of Maine informed of my work in the Senate,” Senator King said. “Although I will miss him, I wish him the best of luck in all to come.”

A native of Monmouth, Maine Ogden will return home to the state to pursue a new opportunity that will be announced at a later date.

            “It has been an extraordinary privilege to work for Senator King and to serve the people of my home state,” Ogden said. “The past four and a half years have been some of the most challenging and rewarding times of my life, and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work for a leader who is committed to pursuing common-sense, bipartisan solutions and who has been a relentless fighter on behalf of the people of Maine. I feel fortunate to have done this work, and I look forward to following Senator King’s continued success in the years to come.”

Prior to working for Senator King, Ogden also worked for Senator Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) from February 2011 until her retirement in January 2013. He is a 2010 graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick.
