King Announces $200,000 Federal Grant for Pines Health Services in Aroostook County

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) today announced that Pines Health Services in Aroostook County will receive a $200,000 Small Health Care Provider Quality Improvement grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“Community health providers like Pines Health Services offer critical services that support rural Maine communities,” said Senator King. “This federal funding will aid Pines Health Services in its important mission to care for the people of Aroostook County.”

The Small Health Care Provider Quality Improvement Grant Program provides three years of funding support to rural primary care providers for implementation of quality improvement activities. The program is administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), a sub-agency of HHS.

This new funding for Pines Health Services is the first round in a three year grant cycle. Funding beyond the first year is dependent on several factors, including the availability of appropriated funds for the program in the next fiscal years, and the satisfactory performance of the grant recipient.
