BRUNSWICK, ME – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) today toured TechPlace, Brunswick Landing’s Technology Accelerator, to see firsthand how the innovative center is supporting the small business development needs of early-stage Maine manufacturers and technology companies. TechPlace, which Senator King helped get off the ground by helping secure a federal grant, provides local entrepreneurs a place to network with other innovators, research and develop ideas, build prototypes, test products, assemble, grow, learn, and become successful businesses.
“Not only has TechPlace become a major force in the revitalization launched at Brunswick Landing, but it’s also an exemplary model for the future of innovation in the State of Maine,” Senator King said. “By bringing together experts and innovators and fostering a collaborative setting, TechPlace is helping companies grow and putting people to work, all while creating a brighter future for our economy and for advanced manufacturing in Maine.”
There are currently more than 20 businesses operating at the TechPlace incubator. In 2013, Senator King helped secure a $750,000 Economic Development Administration grant to renovate Building 250 at the Brunswick Landing and establish the TechPlace facility. TechPlace opened in January 2015 as part of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Association’s mission to redevelop Brunswick Landing.
