Following Successful Recovery, King Returns to Work in Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following a successful recovery from prostate cancer surgery and two weeks of recuperation at home in Maine, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) today returned to Washington, D.C. and will resume his regular Senate schedule. Senator King released the following statement:

“I want to thank my family and my doctors – and especially my wonderful wife, Mary – who did so much to make my recovery smooth and successful.

“I also want to thank the people of Maine whose amazing support and kindness have reminded me of just how fortunate I am to represent such a special place and such extraordinary people.

“I feel good, and I’m glad to be back at work in the Senate today – and look forward to tackling the important issues facing our country.”

On June 26, 2015, Senator King underwent successful surgery to remove prostate cancer. After consultations with his doctors, he has returned to Washington and will resume a full schedule, including several hearings this week of the Senate Armed Services, Intelligence, and Energy and Natural Resources Committees.
