Collins, King Laud UMaine Presque Isle and UMaine Fort Kent on Top Rankings from U.S. News and World Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today lauded the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) and the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) on receiving top rankings in U.S. News and World Report’s 2014 Best Colleges list. UMPI was ranked 41st among the 50 Best Regional Colleges in the North, 13th among the 15 Top Public Schools in the North, and short-listed among the top 5 Regional Colleges in the North for graduates with the least amount of debt. After three consecutive years of being listed among the Top 15 Public Colleges in the North, UMFK was ranked among the Top 10 Public College in the North according to this year’s review.

“We are absolutely thrilled to see the University of Maine system earn national recognition for its commitment to excellence and unwavering dedication to its students,” said Senators Collins and King jointly. “We take great pride in knowing that UMPI and UMFK have provided their students with the highest quality education and skills training that prepares them for success in today’s increasingly competitive job market.”

Since 1983, U.S. News and World Report has published its annual Best College ranking in order to provide students and their families with information about the relative quality and academic values of various institutions of higher education.
