WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King released the following statement today following an announcement from President Obama that he intends to nominate former Maine 2nd Congressional District Congressman Mike Michaud to serve as Assistant Secretary for Veterans’ Employment and Training at the U.S. Department of Labor:
“As Maine’s former Second District Representative and as the former Ranking Member of the House Veterans Committee, Mike has made serving our nation's veterans his life mission,” Senators Collins and King said in a joint statement. “We know that he would step into the Labor Department with that same steadfast conviction and would be a true asset in the effort to help veterans obtain important skills training and find jobs.”
President Obama announced today his intention to nominate Representative Michaud to serve as Assistant Secretary for Veterans’ Employment and Training at the U.S. Department of Labor.
