WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today applauded an announcement from Tempus Jets, one of the world’s largest providers of private aviation services, that it plans to expand its operation at a new facility at the Brunswick Executive Airport in Brunswick, ME, bringing more than 50 new jobs to the area.
“Today’s announcement is not only fantastic news for the Brunswick area, but it’s also a tribute to the exceptional work of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, which has striven tirelessly to transform the former Brunswick Naval Air Station into a center of economic innovation,” Senators Collins and King said in a joint statement. “As a result, the work that Tempus Jets plans to bring to Brunswick has the potential to create more than fifty jobs and be a significant economic boon to the area.”
Tempus Jets intends to relocate approximately $7.5 million in tooling, ground support equipment, and spare parts to Maine, as well as 10 to 12 technical personnel and at least two jets already scheduled for maintenance activities. The company is also expected to hire an addition 25 full-time employees in the next 120 days and exceed 50 new workers by the end of the first year to expand its certified maintenance, repair, overhaul, engineering, and completions capabilities.
Tempus Jets currently operates a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certified Part 145 Repair Station located in Newport News, Virginia where it is permitted to conduct major maintenance on Bombardier Global Express and Gulfstream II, III, IV and V aircraft. Having obtained a lease for hangar, shop and office space at the Brunswick Executive Airport, Tempus will transfer the existing repair station certificate to Brunswick and will receive oversight from Portland’s Flight Standard District Office.
