WASHINGTON, D.C.– U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced that The City of Bath will receive a $2,300,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development, as well as a $6,500,000 Water and Waste Disposal Direct Loan. The City of Bath will use the funds to improve the wastewater management system, and to begin a series of immediate upgrades.
“These funds will allow the City of Bath to update critical infrastructure and improve the quality of life for the city’s residents,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “The upgrades for Bath’s wastewater system will reduce individual maintenance costs for more than 3,000 residents and increase overall system efficiency, ensuring that the people of Bath have infrastructure they can rely on for years to come.”
Bath’s wastewater treatment facility, which was constructed in 1971 and upgraded between 1993 and 1997, is overdue for routine repairs, upgrades and maintenance. This project will increase overall efficiency and decrease costs and liabilities.
