Collins, King Announce More Than $124,000 in Grant Funding for Fort Fairfield Housing Authority

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that the Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $124,797 in Capital Fund Emergency Safety and Security Program grant funding to the Fort Fairfield Housing Authority.

The money will be used to purchase a security camera system, doors, locks, lighting, and fencing at Borderview Rehab & Living Center in Van Buren, Fields Lane in Fort Fairfield, and Hillcrest Estates in Fort Fairfield to improve security and monitoring.

“Public Housing Authorities, like the one in Fort Fairfield, play an indispensable role in helping some of our most vulnerable citizens find safe and affordable housing,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “By supporting the installation of new security equipment, this funding will help protect the safety and wellbeing of residents at Borderview, Fields Lane, and Hillcrest.”

The Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Capital Fund Emergency Safety and Security Program supports public housing authorities as they address safety and security threats that pose a risk to the health and safety of public housing residents due to crimes or property related crimes within the public housing community.
