WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that the Fort Kent Fire Department will receive a federal grant in the amount of $2,850 and the Albion Fire Department will receive a federal grant in the amount of $50,160 through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG). The funding for Fort Kent will be used to help the department to train firefighters while the funding for Albion will help the department purchase 18 complete sets of turnout gear as well as a thermal imaging camera.

“These grants play a vital role in supporting fire departments across Maine, like those in Fort Kent and Albion, as well as the dedicated fire and rescue personnel who serve our communities,” Senators Collins and King said in a joint statement. “These funds will help to train rescue personnel and provide them with the appropriate resources necessary to perform their duties.”
