Collins, King Announce Grant Funding for Thomas College and Eastern Maine Community College

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, and Angus King announced today that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded grants to Thomas College and Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) through the Student Support Services Program. Thomas will receive $218,000 and EMCC will receive $220,000.

“Maine’s academic institutions give students the tools to think critically, innovate, and enter the working world with a drive to succeed,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “This funding will support Thomas College and EMCC in that important mission.” 

The Student Support Services Program is a federally-funded TRIO program that helps institutions of higher learning provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, and guide students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary educations. TRIO programs support low-income and first-generation college students by providing access to academic support services that will help them achieve.
